Role Overview
As a Cashier, you will play a vital role in our retail operations, directly interacting with customers and ensuring smooth transactions. You will be part of a dynamic team, reporting to the Head of Finance, and contributing to a customer-focused environment that values accuracy and efficiency. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals who are team players and possess a strong sense of responsibility.

Position Details
– Employment Type: Full-time
– Location: Kampala
– Reporting Structure: Reports to the Supervisor
– Work Arrangement: On-site
– Number of Vacancies: 5

Key Responsibilities
1. Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
2. Greet customers entering the establishment.
3. Calculate total payments received and reconcile with total sales.
4. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
5. Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure amounts are correct.
6. Compute and record totals of transactions.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
– Education: Post-secondary Diploma in relevant fields
– Experience: 1-2 years in a similar role
– Required Skills: Service Orientation, Active Listening, Speaking, Social Perceptiveness
– Required Knowledge: Customer and Personal Service, Sales and Marketing
– Technology Knowledge: Proficient in POS software (specifically Ritebooks) and spreadsheet software
– Language Proficiency: English

Preferred Qualifications
– Preferred Skills: Service Orientation, Active Listening, Speaking
– Preferred Knowledge Areas: Customer and Personal Service, Sales and Marketing
– Preferred Duties: Issue trading stamps and redeem food stamps and coupons; Assist customers with information and resolve complaints; Monitor checkout stations for adequate cash and staffing; Establish or identify prices of goods and services.
