Job Summary

To lead Sure Pay’s business operations and growth strategy within the assigned region by overseeing sales, client relationships, product adoption, and service delivery. The Regional Manager ensures that Sure Pay’s payment, savings, lending, and value-added service solutions are effectively positioned to drive revenue growth, financial inclusion, and customer satisfaction across corporate, SME, and institutional clients.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Regional Business Growth & Strategy Execution

  • Develop and implement regional business plans aligned with Sure Pay’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Drive acquisition and retention of key corporate, institutional, and retail clients across all product lines.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and distribution channels to expand SurePay’s regional market presence.
  • Monitor regional performance against sales, transaction, and revenue targets to ensure consistent growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to roll out campaigns, tailor solutions to local market needs, and support product uptake.

2. Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a regional team comprising Regional Champions and Super Agents.
  • Set clear KPIs, performance standards, and incentive structures to drive accountability and productivity.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, customer focus, and innovation across all regional functions.
  • Support professional development through structured coaching, training, and performance feedback sessions.
  • Oversee management of regional fixed assets, ensuring optimal utilization and accountability.
  • Supervise Regional Champions and Super Agents, ensuring strong performance and market representation.

3. Client Relationship & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional corporate clients, government agencies, schools, and financial partners.
  • Ensure high service standards, timely resolution of client issues, and proactive engagement for satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Represent SurePay at regional forums, industry associations, and conferences to strengthen visibility and credibility.
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence and customer feedback to guide continuous product and service improvement.

4. Operations & Risk Management

  • Oversee operational efficiency in regional client onboarding, transaction processing, and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, AML/CFT guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, maintaining accuracy and integrity of data and reports.
  • Coordinate closely with Technology and Operations teams to ensure system uptime, reliability, and seamless user experience.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for transaction monitoring, exception handling, and escalation protocols.

5. Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare and present regional business performance reports to the Head of Business Development and Executive Management.
  • Track and analyze KPIs, budgets, and profitability metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial, operational, and compliance reports.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes, providing accurate regional insights.
  • Maintain alignment with corporate governance frameworks and performance reporting standards.

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (MBA, CPA, CFA, or PMP) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in business and related fields in especially corporate banking, fintech, or digital Experience in fintech, banking, telecom, or digital payments environments.
  • Proven track record of developing and closing strategic deals with measurable impact.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams across regions or markets.
  • Deep understanding of digital payments, fintech ecosystems, and financial inclusion models.
  • Knowledge of SME financing, education payment systems, and regulatory frameworks in East Africa.
  • Familiarity with customer acquisition strategies, distribution networks, and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Financial literacy and analytical skills to evaluate business performance.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to convert insights into actionable business plans.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate teams toward shared objectives
